Just Watched: Cloudburst (2011)
Briefest of Synopses: A lesbian couple escape from their nursing home and head up to Canada to get married. Along the way, they pick up a young, male hitchhiker. That’s all you need to know.
Basically saw this movie for two reasons: 1) I got a bunch of free tickets for the film festival from work, and 2) it was at a time that I could actually go and see it. But, regardless of the circumstances that brought me to see the movie, I was absolutely not disappointed. The film starred Olympia Dukakis (as Stella) and Brenda Fricker (as Dotty) and they were wonderful. The audience was in stitches for most of the movie. It had a good balance of humour and reality, although maybe played up the humour too much, if that’s possible.
Either way, I definitely enjoyed the movie. Thom Fitzgerald (director) and Brenda Fricker (actress) were present for the viewing, and stuck around afterward for Q&A and were every bit as lovely as you’d might have anticipated them to be.
