best advice i’ve ever gotten: insecure people follow every fashion, cultural, and musical trend out there. a good measurement of your security is based on how much you lead versus how much you follow. followers become followers so they don’t suffer the consequences of judgement and failure. leaders don’t care.

“Can’t Go Back Now” by The Weepies
Yesterday when you were young
Everything you needed done was done for you
Now you do it on your own
But you find you’re all alone, what can you do?You and me walk on, walk on, walk on
‘Cause you can’t go back nowYou know there will be days
When you’re so tired
That you can’t take another step
The night will have no stars
And you’ll think you’ve gone as far
As you will ever get
“The Sound of Settling” by Death Cab for Cutie
“Gimme Sympathy” (acoustic) by Metric
“Kill the Messenger” by Jack’s Mannequin
Kill the messenger
I swear it’s not me
It’s just someone I used to know
And get to church cause you’re a good girl
And he never told you that
And all I need from you
Could be the thing that
Leaves us both up here forever
I’m gonna send a little rain your way
I’m gonna send a little rain, send a little rain
I’m gonna send a little rain to pour down on you
Rain that makes the flowers bloom
Rain to leave you all alone
That keeps eyelashes falling
And wishes washed away
